I Choo Choo Choose You, H&M!

jimmy choo H&MLet me begin by saying that I have had a paper bag next to my desk ever since I heard about Jimmy Choo’s collaboration with H&M for a line of shoes to debut this November.  Could it be?  The sexy, indisputably power-inducing shoes would become affordably accessible at my local H&M?  Well, maybe not sooo accessible, since I’m sure there will be a feeding frenzy followed by throngs of eBay sales afterwards, but you know what  I mean.  I can’t wait to see what they’re going to do.  Looks like, from the initial pictures, that the zebra stripe and spindly stiletto will remain in place.  For the rest, it looks like we wait.  I know where I’m going to be come November 14th.  Save me a spot in line!

Background info on Jimmy Choo from H&M:   “Since its launch in 1996, Jimmy Choo has been such a phenomenal success that the brand name has become part of popular culture – say the words “Jimmy Choo”, and you know you mean shoes.  Jimmy Choo has also become well known for its bags, and for H&M there will be a whole range of accessories to complete the look.  The collection will be available from November 14 in around 200 stores across the world. It is the first time that H&M is collaborating with an accessories brand, and to celebrate Jimmy Choo will extend its design vision for this collection to women’s clothing to complement the accessories. Further exciting news is that this collaboration includes a men’s collection of shoes, bags and accessories.”

Cinderella and the mice

Every celebrity worth her salt these days employs the fastidious and learned eye of a professional stylist for all functions of importance, no?  Of course!  This, however, dear boys and girls, is no new happenstance.  In fact, I would like to point out that the magic wielded by stylists of today doesn’t stretch far from the happy history of these miracle-workers, and the proof is in the Disney footage.  From Sleeping Beauty to Cinderella, neither walked the red carpet to their life-changing events without the help of some Fairy Style-mothers.  But, lest we forget the workers who made the looks possible.  Where would Miss C be without her sewing little mice?  Exactly.  So, when I happened upon these two shoe specimens on display at David’s on Bloor St., well, it kinda made me think of Cinderella and her little grey helpers.  My sister fell in love with these little Marc by Marc Jacobs mouse flats in patent croc-embossed leather, and I , promptly held my heart as my gaze fell onto these signature bow d’Orsay peep toe heels from Valentino!  Could it be?  Could such perfect shoes exist?  Try them on?  No, no….I couldn’t!  Could I?  Did I?  I did.  And from the moment my foot slipped securely into the red shiny slipper, I knew exactly how Cinderella felt.  Followed immediately by “hey, if she could run in one shoe, so can I!”    Of course, I didn’t make a run for it, but proceeded to admire my feet in the mirror for the next hour and a half.

Bottega Veneta SS10

Yes, ladies!  It’s finally happened!  I’ve been campaigning for years for the magnificent and often overlooked wardrobe staple join the ranks of its better known dark little cousin — the Little White Dress is here!  Well, at least it will be, come Spring/Summer 2010.  At long last, women everywhere will know of its magical powers to become a simple go-to that makes you instantly sparkle, look more tanned and will go easily with everything!  Be warned, though, that it must not be too short nor too long, but the same rings true for the LBD.  We’ll take all shades of shoe-pairings with it, too — eeps — I speak too soon. You MUST NOT wear this with white shoes, or you hazard looking bridal.  Cream, fine.  Nude, better.   Black and anything else is great.  Unless you’re walking up an aisle in it, keep the dress looking angelic and the shoes asking for a safe word.   Wink, wink.

We've got a Lively one

In a dress like that, Blake Livley is going to have a lot of  reading to do on Gossip Girl!  This is the stunner she wore to the Emmy’s this year, and it does the girl no harm.  Although it does have the sexed up glam that would befit Lively’s character Serena on the show, the length and elegance it expertly conveys is truly a work of art.  So simple, yet so fabulous.  Style note:  She is no first-timer, knowing full well that this dress is a lone wolf.  Tiny earrings, a statement cuff for jewellery, simple hair and nude shoes are the perfect way to guarantee a knockout look.   When you wear a Versace dress like this, it had better be all about the frock.  Until next time, we xoxo this look!
